World's second largest ship graveyard revealed

Controls to operate in the room. These eerie images reveal one of the worlds largest ship graveyard - with items including gas masks, bullets and personal graphs perfectly preserved 70 years after the World War Two attack. The haunting shots were taken in the Chuuk Lagoon - a sheltered body of water in the Central Pacific and a main base for Japan during the Second World War. The site was targeted by the United States Navy on February 17th 1944, in an attack which became known as Operation Hailstone. Over three days Allied forces sank over 60 Japanese warships and more than 250 aircraft. Chuuk Lagoon is now considered to be one of the top wreck diving destinations in the world.
