        Top judge, prosecutor-general deliver reports

        China's top judge Wang Shengjun and Prosecutor-General Cao Jianming delivered work reports on Tuesday at the second session of the 11th National People's Congress.

        Wang said in 2008, the Supreme People's Court handled over 10,000 cases, up nearly 30 percent from 2007. Local courts handled over 10 million cases, up nearly 11 percent.

        He also says the Supreme People's Court has ensured the implementation of measures adopted by the central government to weather the global financial crisis. The court offered judicial guidance opinions in guaranteeing creditors’rights, punishing those committing illegal financial acts, and promoting the healthy growth of enterprises.

        Cao Jianming also delivered a work report of the Supreme People's Procuratorate.

        Chinese leaders Hu Jintao, Wu Bangguo, Wen Jiabao, Jia Qinglin,Li Changchun, Xi Jinping, Li Keqiang, He Guoqiang and Zhou Yongkang attended the meeting.
