China will pool a large amount of money to help key media sharpen their competitive edge in the international news arena, but the sum has not yet been decided, according to a top official.

Liu Binjie, head of the General Administration of Press and Publication, told China Daily on Monday on the sidelines of the National People's Congress that the amount of investment, reported by some overseas media as 45 billion yuan, has yet to be determined and the list of media involved is still under consideration.
