China, US jointly investigate chemical trafficking case
The Ministry of Public Security recently deployed the public security authorities of Hubei province to investigate the clues provided by the United States about a man surnamed Gao, Xinhua News Agency reported on Friday.
The 38-year-old and others are alleged to have exploited the differences between chemical regulations of different countries and engaged in cross-border sales of chemicals and illegal foreign exchange settlements, Xinhua said.
Gao's company is now deregistered, and four major suspects have been captured by police. The case is under further investigation.
Law enforcement departments of China and the US have worked together to tackle the case. Both sides have shared information with and briefed each other about the development of the case, Xinhua said.
