PYONGYANG - The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) said on Saturday that there will no hope for any improvement of the North-South ties as long as President of the Republic of Korea (ROK) Lee Myung-bak stays in office.

"It is clear that there is nothing to expect from the inter-Korean relations...as long as this guy (Lee Myung-bak) stays in office," the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of Korea said in a statement.

The committee said the Lee Myung-bak government "blocked visits of South Korean mourners of all strata, snatched condolence messages and desecrated them."

It said the committee will never pardon the Lee government "who hurt the dignity of its (DPRK) supreme leadership."

"And it is left with no option but to finally settle accounts with the Lee group unless it apologizes for the above-said crimes, " it said.

The DPRK National Defense Commission declared on Friday that the country would never engage with?ROK's Lee Myung-bak government any more, citing reasons as preventing ROK's people from paying condolence visits to the DPRK after late leader Kim Jong-il died on Dec 17.
