        Should Chinese care about "face"?

I treat all people with the same kind of respect that I would like to get myself. If someone gives me a gift, I don't try to refuse it four or five times. I receive the gift and say "thank you." If I give a gift, it's because I feel that person should have it, not because I want something later. It's the same with compliments. If I pour someone a drink at a table, it's always "Ladies first," and then whoever the eldest gentleman is next. Through out all my dealings, I maintain the same social standards that I was brought up with.
