        Should Chinese care about "face"?

Let me point to some cultural differences between the US and China. An American will go about wearing whatever he or she feels like wearing, even if it's immodest or offensive. A Chinese, at least the ones I know and all the ones I've seen, clothe themselves decently. Even mini-skirted young women retain some modesty. I don't know about you, but I'll take someone with 面子, self respect, over somebody who has no care or idea about how he or s/he presents himself or herself to the world.
