'Zhejiang Day' to debut at Astana Expo
Zhejiang province will launch a special event, Zhejiang Day, at the 2017 Astana Expo in Astana, Kazakhstan's capital on June 23.
Led by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Zhejiang Provincial Committee, the event will see several agreements signed among companies and associations. A show featuring performances with distinctive Zhejiang characteristics will be staged in the Central Asian city as well, according to a news conference on June 16.
China Pavilion at the Expo, with the theme of "Future Energy and Green Silk Road", focuses on tackling energy crises and helping promote energy sustainable development in the future.
"Zhejiang is a big province in energy consumption and it leads the country in utilizing clean energies, innovating technologies and promoting international cooperation," said Wu Shengfeng, director of Zhejiang energy administration.
Zhejiang has held close ties with Kazakhstan for many years. This year, 85 Zhejiang companies take part in the Expo, including in fields of energy, environmental protection, e-commerce and chemical engineering like Zhejiang Energy Group and China New Energy Development (Zhejiang) Co Ltd.
Zhejiang companies showcase the most advanced products and technologies on the world stage. For example, a technology to decrease pollutant emissions from coal-fired power plants, developed by Zhejiang Energy Group, an official partner of the Astana Expo, makes its appearance in Astana.
"The technology is able to make emissions from the coal-fired plants cleaner than those from gas-powered machines." The technology has been widely applied across China's power plants, greatly reducing the amount of pollution caused by coal-fired plants.
The Astana Expo will be held from June 10 to Sep 10 and is expected to welcome more than 100 attending countries, 10 international organizations, and more than five million visitors.
