最近,微博上有人撰文分析啟東排海項(xiàng)目遭抗議是因?yàn)椤班彵苄?yīng)”,也就是英語(yǔ)中的not in my backyard(NIMBY)。
NIMBY or Nimby is an acronym for the phrase "not in my backyard". The term is used pejoratively to describe opposition by residents to a proposal for a new development close to them, developments that are generally needed in the society. Opposing residents themselves are sometimes called Nimbies.
NIMBY或Nimby是英文短語(yǔ)not in my backyard(別在我家后院)的詞首字母縮寫(xiě),這個(gè)表達(dá)多以貶義的意味指那些因?yàn)槟硞€(gè)社會(huì)建設(shè)項(xiàng)目要修在自家附近而對(duì)此表示反對(duì)的公眾意見(jiàn),即“鄰避效應(yīng)”。
Projects likely to be opposed include but are not limited to chemical plants, industrial parks, military bases, desalination plants, landfills, incinerators, power plants, prisons, nuclear waste dumps, sports stadiums, etc.
NIMBY is also used more generally to describe people who advocate some proposal (for example, austerity measures including budget cuts, tax increases, downsizing), but oppose implementing it in a way that would require sacrifice on their part.
