12 female students from China's Peking University shot a series of photos depicting themselves reading while imitating scenes from famous western paintings.

The 30 photos also serve as book recommendations for readers. The photo activity was part of a celebration for World Book Day in April in an effort to advocate reading and showcase the elegance of women who read. The photos, taken by students from Peking University, were published by the university's official Sina Weibo account.
