BEIJING - A senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on Monday called on county-level CPC officials to prioritize the people's interests and to be practical in their work.
Li Yuanchao, head of the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks at a forum held during a 12-day training session for county-level officials that ended Monday.
A total of 440 newly elected officials from county-level CPC organizations in 20 provincial-level regions attended the session.
Economic development should not be the only indicator of government officials' success, Li said.
Li called on the new officials to be honest and steer clear of people and lifestyles that could lead to corruption.
The CPC holds elections for Party committees at the provincial, city, county and township levels every five years.
The Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee began to hold training sessions for the new officials in September 2011.
