E-commerce transactions in Guangdong totaled 1.09 trillion yuan ($308.9 billion) in the first half of 2014, up 30 percent year-on-year, and making it the leading province in the country, said Cai Yong, deputy director of provincial department of commerce, on Monday.
Online shopping accounted for 221 billion yuan, representing 16.3 percent of retail sales in the province, a rise of 6.4 percent on last year, Cai told a press conference at the launch of an annual campaign to promote products made in Guangdong online.
The campaign will run from Aug 29 through the end of the year and aims to strengthen the e-commerce servicing system in Guangdong and further promote online shopping.
