GENEVA - Both the Iranian and Iraqi governments supported the Syrian-led peace plan, UN-Arab League joint envoy for Syria Kofi Annan told reporters on Wednesday.
"They support the idea of a political transition," he said, following briefing the UN Security Council about his visit to Syria, Iran and Iraq, as well as the outcome of the Action Group meeting held on June 30.
"Obviously they are going to use their influence in talking to the government and the parities and moving in that direction," the former UN chief said.
Regarding the UN Security Council's next move, Annan said the council "is now discussing" the issue, adding that "we should hear something in the next few days."
