ISLAMABAD -- Pakistan's opposition leader Benazir Bhutto was killed by "terrorists," Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf said in a speech broadcast to the nation on state television on Wednesday.

Musharraf said he was "sad and angry" as the public over the recent assassination of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto.

"I condole the death of Benazir Bhutto," Musharraf said in the live broadcast.

Vested groups exploited the situation as the poor suffered and daily wage earners suffered the most, the president said. His address came three hours after the decision by the election commission to postpone the January 8 elections until February 18.
