While Olympic hurdles champion Liu Xiang trains in Germany, most of the other Chinese track and field athletes are at Leeds University, working on their final preparation for the Olympic competition.
According to Wang Dawei, vice-president of Chinese Athletics Association, Liu Xiang has a small muscle pain after his semi-final race at the London Diamond Grand Prix.
"Currently, Liu Xiang is also having normal training (in Germany). As everybody knows, Liu got a small injury in the London Diamond Grand Prix. So his injury is under recovery. He is training while at the same time in the process of recovery," he said.
Liu Xiang has been in impressive form in the past six months and is considered one of the gold medal contenders in the men's 110m race.
"Our track and field athletes will definitely try their best to compete, otherwise they will not be able to make the preliminaries or heats (as we are in the second level). So they must take every competition seriously," Wang said.
