An official in South China’s Guangdong province gave 1 million yuan to a temple to have his name carved on a Buddhist stone, according to prosecutors, New Express Daily reported.

Huang Zhiguang, former Party secretary of Shantou city, is suspected of illegally owning seven guns, Yangcheng Evening News reported. Huang was also charged with accepting bribes worth more than 5.5 million yuan ($902,000), including 582,000 yuan worth of caterpillar fungus, a highly valued ingredient in traditional Chinese medicine.
