A miner who is part of the rescue operation prepares to enter the shaft to save trapped colleagues on July 6 in Leiyang, Central China's Hunan province. Sixteen miners were trapped in a pit of the Qielichong mine in Sandu township when it flooded at 6 pm on July 5. The accident was not reported to the local government until 6:30 am on July 6, which delayed the rescue operation by almost 12 hours.
