        (August 15, 2008)

Chinese sharpshooter Du Li won a gold in the women's 50m rifle 3 positions on August 14 after she failed to take the first gold of the Games on August 9.

What she told reporters after the win impressed me a lot.

"Five days ago, I cried because I felt extremely regretful and I let so many people down, rather than because I failed to win the gold. The past four days were as much as four years for me. "

For many veteran athletes, they have a lot of pressure from the Olympics held on home field, especially those former gold-winners. They are highly anticipated by their countrymen.

Behind every move in every sport is the great efforts athletes have made for years. Take diving for example, what the audience could see is a “jump-somersault-into the water” routine for only several seconds. But for those several seconds, we need to practice thousands of times.

Just as ex-gymnasts Li Ning (“Prince of Gymnatics”) has put it, for athletes in floor exercise, the efforts they have made is invariably the same whether they stand firm or tumble in the landing.

So, the athletes and audience should not only care about the gold or silver, but also enjoy every game or match as much as possible.

No matter gold or zero, we should applaud for the athletes, as long as they have tried.
