BEIJING--Bad weather will not ruin the cycling road race, an Olympic official said on Sunday.
"The road race goes on under any kind of weather," said Wang Junyan, director of Cycling Competition of the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG).
Heavy rain hit Sunday's women's cycling road race, causing some crashes.
The Chinese Olympic official said that there has been no precedent of canceling any road race due to bad weather since the Olympic sport began in 1896.
