The informatization engineering construction of Urumqi Free Trade Zone (FTZ) is nearing completion, according to local media reports on July 13.
Some 10 industrial weighbridges were calibrated at the FTZ, enabling the accurate calculation of cargo weights, said Liu Xingzhou, head of the standard measuring department at the quality and technical supervision bureau.

Informatization at the FTZ mainly includes the introduction of systems to improve customs, testing standards, and intelligent security and video monitoring equipment.
At present, about 4.9 milion yuan ($743,505) has been invested in the project.
Ma Xiaozhe, deputy general manager of the FTZ, said that the customs’ informatization engineering will be completed by July 20.
