SPC kicks off juvenile court circuits publicity events
To mark International Children's Day, which falls on June 1, the Supreme People's Court (SPC) launched a series of publicity events themed on its juvenile court circuits. The launch event was jointly held by the first Circuit Court of the SPC and courts in Shenzhen, South China's Guangdong province, on May 24. During the event held both online and offline, mock trials themed on campus bullying were livestreamed to two middle schools in Shenzhen, with an audience of around 3,000 teachers and students. Deputies to the national and local people's congresses, members of the local Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and representatives from the local courts, education bureau and schools attended the event. The mock trials elaborately weaved together knowledge of the Law on the Protection of Minors with the Law on the Prevention of Juvenile Delinquency, and the Family Education Promotion Law, and was highly spoken of by the audience and participants. More publicity events targeting minors will be held by circuit courts in the future, as part of their efforts to achieve tangible results in protecting minors.
