The apples produced in Shanxi province have obtained access to the Chilean markets, according to the Shanxi Commerce Department. An official letter written by the Chile Ministry of Agriculture to China’s General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine sent the news.
Chile utilizes rigorous systems regarding entry and exit animal and plant quarantine. The admittance of Shanxi apples to Chilean markets marks a breakthrough in Shanxi’s fruit export.
From July 2 to 5, experts from the Chile Ministry of Agriculture paid an official visit to apple growing areas and packaging plants in Shanxi on the invitation of China’s General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine.
During their stay in Shanxi, these Chilean experts carried out detailed auditing to address Chile’s official concerns on quarantine pests, hazards, supervision, control and prevention. They also focused on pesticide residue, as well as plant hygiene management systems of Yuncheng’s apple producers and packaging plants. These auditing results have granted Shanxi apples access to Chile’s markets.
To date, the fruits produced in Shanxi have been exported to countries like the US, Canada, Australia, Mexico, Chile, Argentina, Peru and South Africa.
