A reading pavilion, equipped with a professional recording device and a camera, was installed in the Oriental Pearl TV Tower square in Shanghai's Lujiazui area on March 31 and was operational until April 6.

The reading pavilion is a part of a popular TV program The Reader that airs on Saturday and Sunday on China Central Television. The program rekindles people's love of literature.

The pavilion lets people from all walks of life have a three-minute reading experience. People record their favorite poems, essays, and books, or personal letters they wrote to their loved ones. Some touching readings will be presented in the TV show.

The pavilion in Lujiazui received an average of 30 people every day and peaked on April 1 when readers numbered 70.

Lujiazui is one of the seven stops that the pavilion will make around Shanghai. It stays for about one week at each stop.

The project is expected to get more people in Shanghai to enjoy the fun of reading, insiders said.
