The Pudong New District of the city of Shanghai has reported a gross industrial output of 900 billion yuan ($138 billion) for 2015, for a 2.4-percent year-on-year growth, the fastest for the past four years, with industrial production, port shipping, software, information services, and production safety all seeing great improvement.
The three leading industries – electronic information, packaging equipment, and automobiles – all showed steady growth, with new energy autos playing an outstanding role, thanks to the government's preferential policies. And, three emerging industries – new energy, bio-pharmaceuticals, and aerospace – had a cumulative output value of 51.4 billion yuan, for a 3.6 percent increase over the previous year. Pudong has been pushing its industrial economy this year, with better services for enterprises, stronger support for innovation and upgrades, better development of township industries, and better supervision of key industrial projects in the district.
