Covering a total area of 2,000 square meters, Shanghai Zhuyun Art Museum has been opened free to the public since September 2008 and focuses on displaying over 700 pieces of Jiading's local cultural, artistic, and historical works.
Exhibits in the museum include bamboo carvings, stone inscription rubbings, paintings and calligraphy works by famed Jiading artists dating back to the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties, which can offer visitors authentic experiences of Jiading's profound culture.
The increasing popularity of art collecting among Chinese citizens in recent years has led to the establishment of many private museums and art galleries.
Jiading district in Shanghai has sprung up with no fewer than 38 private museums and galleries. They constitute a vital window onto the arts and have become an important part of Jiading's cultural sector, one neatly complementing government run galleries.
