Jiading district of Shanghai held an evening gala on Jan 21 in celebration of the upcoming lunar Chinese New Year, which starts on Jan 28. Local government leaders and representatives from all walks of life attended the celebration.
Ma Chunlei, Party secretary of Jiading, addressed the celebration and gave his best wishes to all local people. Ma said Jiading has achieved steady and sound economic growth, promoted coordinated and balanced urban and rural development, and maintained a harmonious society in 2016.
Ma attributed the achievements to the joint efforts of local officials and citizens. He hoped these levels of positive cooperation will continue in the future and aid Jiading's further development.
The Party secretary also urged local officials to work hard to facilitate economic and social development, create better businesses, advance innovative projects, and forge a strong political environment in 2017.
A variety of art performances including singing and dancing were staged to create a festive atmosphere.
