Import tax in May of 2012 reached 14.47 million yuan ($2.27 million), a year-on-year increase of 33.9 percent. This is a record high for monthly import tax in Dandong, northeast China's Liaoning province.
The city's total tax revenue from January to May amounted to 147 million yuan, a growth of 25.39 million yuan compared to last year. As much as 90 million yuan was obtained from customs collection, and 57.38 million yuan from imported linkage tax, an increase of 15.8 percent and 29.7 percent, respectively.
