On the first anniversary of its establishment, Dandong Branch of Dalian Bank donated 920,000 yuan ($145,176) to Dandong's 92 abandoned children in the countryside.
"This shows the bank's strong sense of social responsibilities and I would extend the heartfelt thanks to them on behalf of the municipal government of the city," said Song Liyue, head of the party's publicity department of the city at the ceremony on Dec 9, 2011.
The donation ceremony was jointly organized by Dandong Branch of Dalian Bank and the charity federation. They hope to bring awareness and encourage companies and individuals to care for the children left behind in the countryside.
Since its opening on Dec 16, 2010, the Dandong branch has been expanding its business. By the end of November 2011, the total asset of the branch had reached 1.7 billion yuan. Its balance of deposits, balance of loans, international settlement volume and pre-provision operating profit had amounted to 1.13 billion yuan, 860 million yuan, 135 million yuan and 38.33 million yuan respectively.
