Dagushan is located in the town of Dagushan, to the west of the city of Donggang, and is known for its scenery, talented people, and long history.
It is a national forest park and a provincial scenic spot, with towering peaks, jagged rocks, and ancient trees that seem to reach to the sky. Its huge oaks and gingko trees provide shade for the roads, while wildflowers decorate the mountainside. It has a variety of trees in various odd shapes, many of them more than 300 years old.
The mountain's temple is a relic with province-level protection. It is a combination of Buddhism, Confucianism and Taoism built in the Tang Dynasty, and a display of architectural forms from south and north China. It has courtyards with more than 100 halls, pavilions and rooms. The Queen of Heaven Hall is one of the largest Matsu temples in China. In fact, the temple is a birthplace of the Matsu culture in North China, in the Yellow Sea, Bohai region.
Each April 18 in the lunar calendar, there is a temple fair at Dagushan, which is a good place to see folk customss.
