Lingang Industrial Park
This is a province-level industrial park established in 2006 with a planned area of 97 square kilometers. It took on greater importance when the Liaoning Coastal Economic Belt became part of a national strategy in July 2009.
The Lingang Industrial Park consists mostly of a new urban area and an industrial area. The new urban area has a natural landscape and unique natural and geographic conditions. Plans call for a 61.8-square-kilometer area and a population of 400,000. The district has functions as a complete urban area with an administration, businesses, tourism, residences, and its own culture and is an important part of integrating Dandong and Donggang.
After work on the area is completed, the administrators want it to become a frontier State-level international business and finance center, a logistics center for North Korean trade, and an administrative and economic center for Dandong.
The industrial park has formed seven preliminary clusters for the following industries: instrumentation; modern services; port logistics, represented by the SK Dandong Bonded Logistics Center and SK Energy Storage Base; watch manufacturing, led by the Liaoning Watch Co, Ltd and the Swiss GimatecSarl; stainless steel deep processing, represented by the Benxi Iron & Steel (Group) Co’s stainless steel cold rolling plant and the Hengtong High-tech Pipe Industry Co, Ltd; automobile and auto parts, represented by Huanghai Bus, Shuguang SUV and Harman International Automotive Audio; and ship and ship parts, represented by the Dandong Shipping Heavy Industry Co, Ltd and Dandong 518 Internal Combustion Engine Parts (Group) Co, Ltd.

Liaoning (Dandong) Instrumentation Industry Base
Construction work on the Liaoning (Dandong) Instrumentation Industry Base began at the end of May 2009 and improvements in infrastructure and work on investment has kept pace since then.
By the end of 2010, phases 1 and 2 of the base had been completed: 500,000 square meters of workshops; a 40,000-sq-m R&D, testing center; a 100,000-sq-m instrumentation college, and a 20,000-sq-m service center.
Also, by the end of 2010, the base had 400 enterprises that had signed contracts, with 10 billion yuan in investment. Of these, 234 had registered capital of 4.37 billion yuan, and 65 of these had started production. Fixed assets amounted to two billion yuan. These industrial enterprises generated an aggregate of two billion yuan in revenues. Exports were valued at 20 million yuan.
In 2011, the base will continue to introduce products and make sure that the standard workshops and R&D and testing center are fully used and that all the companies have begun production and are reaching capacity. It will also build an optometry industrial park and software industrial park and sign contracts with more companies. Construction work on phase-3 will begin, for 500,000 sq m of workshops.
Under the Twelfth Five-Year Plan (2011-2015), the base will work to attract more enterprises and investment, with a goal of 2,000 enterprises and 50 billion yuan in revenues from major businesses.
