Jingdezhen tourism earns 2.34 billion in Q1

In the first quarter of 2012, Jingdezhen has received a total of 4.63 million tourists at home and abroad, an increase of 23.6 percent year-on-year. The tourism gross revenue reached 2.34 billion yuan ($370.10 million), up by 40.37 percent compared with the same period last year.
As a historic and cultural city making porcelains for over 1,000 years, Jingdezhen city has constantly made efforts to promote its tourism. Each October, Jingdezhen holds the porcelain expo. It also takes advantage of the "Beautiful Jiangxi Scenery" promotion activity to show folk porcelain music performances. Tourism cooperation is carried out with other cities such as Chengdu, Nanjing, Xiamen, and Anqing.
In 2010, the city saw several tourist projects such as the Yaoli ancient town development project and the Hongyan scenic spot project commence construction. The total investment in tourist projects reached 2.59 billion yuan in 2010 with a general revenue amounting to 8.38 billion yuan for the whole year, a year-on-year increase of 25.72 percent.
