The new museum in Jiujiang, Jiangxi province started trial operation on May 1, 2012 as planned. The long-awaited new museum attracted a large number of local citizens to visit.
Feng Jing, vice-director of the Jiujiang municipal Party committee and the project leader, and other people concerned checked up on the operation of exhibition halls and expressed their congratulations on the trial opening of the new museum.
Covering a building area of 18,000 square meters, the new museum is a key cultural project to benefit people approved by the local government in 2010. It has an investment of 120 million yuan ($19.09 million). Until now, the main part of the project, the decoration of the museum and the exhibition preparations have been completed. This makes it the most modern comprehensive museum in Jiangxi province.
The trial opening aimed to test whether facilities in the new venue met the design requirements and were suitable to open to the public. In addition, three exhibitions: Display of Jiujiang's History and Culture, Hongzhou Kiln Porcelain Exhibition and Jiujiang First Flower-and-bird Painting Exhibition, will take the opportunity to make improvements in accordance with the suggestions and feedback from the audience. This will better prepare the exhibits for the official opening.
As many as 6,000 people visited the museum on the first day of its trial open. The museum's trial open will last until May 5, 2012.
