Wuyuan art gallery, the first county-level art gallery, opened in east China's Jiangxi province on April 22, 2012. It is privately run by Zhu Xuewen who was born in the county.
In 2000, noticing the excellent ecological resources of Wuyuan, Zhu began to exploit tourist attractions in his hometown and pursued an individual business in tourism. When Wuyuan's tourist industry took shape, Zhu decided to invest in Wuyuan's cultural trade. Approved by the Department of Culture of Jiangxi, he invested about 20 million yuan to build the Wuyuan art gallery.
Covering an area of 2,000 square meters, the art gallery consists of a calligraphy exhibition hall, a She ink stone exhibition hall, a Chinese painting and calligraphy workshop, and a sketching base. The gallery has a collection of 2,000 She ink stones, paintings and calligraphy works of famed Chinese painters and calligraphers of modern and contemporary times. It is free to the public.
