The art show entitled, "Gan Feng" (means Jiangxi culture) will show at the Jiangxi Art Theater from Feb 16 to 25.
Created by the Jiangxi Opera House, "Gan Feng" is an art performance which reflects the landscape, cultural customs and history of Jiangxi province by showing local folk music, dance and drama.
In order to advertise the "three color" culture (ancient, red and green), the Jiangxi Opera House has promoted several art shows, such as "porcelain soul" and, "Jinggang Mountain". The "Gan Feng" show was created in 2008 and is another work that reflects the environment of Jiangxi province.
The Jiangxi Provincial Department of Culture organized a very creative team, including both local art elites and famous domestic art masters. These artists went to 20 counties in Jiangxi province and traveled for more than 3,000 kilometers to find hundreds of folk artists to collect folk songs from.
Folk songs, dances and customs are used in "Gan Feng" extensively. Many art works have been staged for the first time, such as a hair-washing dance, catching fish and couple-horn.
During the three years after 2008, "Gan Feng" has achieved successful results. In August 2009, it went to the capital stage as a present for the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. In May 2010, "Gan Feng" won the outstanding dance award on the Ninth China Art Festival. In 2011, after revisions, the new "Gan Feng" was performed during the evening party of "the seventh China PPRD Congress". The coming play at the Jiangxi Art Theater is its first appearance in front of its hometown audience.
After the third modification, the new "Gan Feng" will appear in a more colorful and more characteristically local way. Five parts that portray the cultural symbols of Jiangxi are included in the play. Among them are the distinctive characteristics of the folk song, dance, drama and other programs.
"Gan Feng" will show ten times from Feb 16 to 25. People can dial: 0791-86701548 to get more detailed information about the show.
