Jiangxi clubhouse, a building in Anqing city with close to a century and a half history, will be reopened to the public in April 2012, after restoration projects are complete.
The clubhouse is the only ancient club house left in Anhui province and was recognized as city-level heritage under protection in 1995.
Restoration work started in May 2011, occupying an area of about 1,400 square meters, with an investment of nearly 5 million yuan. The site is expected to showcase ancient Hui-style architectural techniques.
Prior to restoration, time had taken its toll on the building and was almost run down.
Anqing city was once the capital city of ancient Huizhou province. It was a hub for merchants from all over China, with many business groups from other provinces building their clubhouse in the city.
