Ancient Xinyu residencies recently drew the attention of Li Xuxian, director of the Publicity Department of Xinyu municipal government.
Li spent a whole day conducting field research on the protection and utilization of Xinyu’s ancient dwellings, and said that Xinyu ancient residences will become a famous cultural tourism selling point.
The 141 ancient houses, most built in the Ming and Qing dynasties, are a rich tourist resource. Among the residential houses, two are under provincial-level protection and five are under municipal protection. Few people know about the number of ancient houses in Xinyu and many still have not realized how to make use of the precious treasures.
It is necessary to explore and make good use of the ancient residential houses. Yongding Hakka earth buildings in Fujian province, Wuyuan Hui-style architecture in Jiangxi province, Houwu's ancestral hall in Zhejiang province and Taierzhuang ancient city in Shandong province are all very considered good examples to learn from.
