Surrounded by mountains and marvelous peaks, the Strange Slope is one of the nation’s AAA-class tourism areas. It consists of four scenic spots—the Strange Slope, Strange Cabin, Bamboo Temple and Yunhuang Mountain. The artificial scenery is perfectly integrated with the surrounding natural resources, making it a wonderful tourist resort.

The Strange Slope Scenic Area has a rare twin interlinked slope group, each with different shapes and forms. It is over 2000 meters long. The main slope runs 126 meters, the longest single strange slope in China.

Phenomena against the law of gravity endow these hills with the unique name, “Strange Slope.” The water mysteriously flows upwards and goes uphill, but seems to be going downhill—this somehow manages to pull in masses of tourists from home and abroad.

There is a cabin hung upside-down on an abrupt cliff behind the Strange Slope, called the Strange Cabin. It has a very unique and intricate structure. At the foot of the cliff, a stream winds upwards along the inscriptions on the precipice, forming a wonderful scene. Upon entering the Strange Cabin, the inverted scenery and fantastic lighting and sounds make it feel as peaceful as a mountain floating in space. Walking up the ring-shaped corridor, one cannot help but marvel at the breathtaking views.

The Bamboo Temple is a famous arena for Taoist activities. It covers 10,000 square meters, and is a perennial favorite for pilgrim tourists.

Yunhuang Mountain is 797 meters above sea level, and is known for its famous Yunhuang Temple. A well-preserved stone village on the mountain is home to Yunhuang Temple, Sanguan Temple and more than ten blocks of stone tablets from the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing Dynasties (1644-1911).
