Guizhou province and Taiwan are working together to advance exchange in agriculture, tourism, information technology and development.
"Our suggestion is that Guizhou establish the Eco-Agriculture Economic Zone (EAEZ) in Gui'an district to develop green economy and enhance a‘vegetable basket program'," said Sun Mingxian, chief advisor of the Knowledge Creating & Sharing Association, on Tuesday at the Guizhou-Taiwan Cooperation Conference on Economy & Trade, which was held in Guiyang, capital of Guizhou.
Under a "big industries" strategy, Guizhou has maintained strong development momentum. It is also utilizing ecological advantages to promote other new industries, especially in the new development zone in Gui’an district.
Gui'an district in Guizhou attracted significant attention after Foxconn Technology Group, one of the largest electronics contract manufacturers in the world, announced the establishment of a fourth-generation industrial park in the area.
Sun also acknowledged the development potential in the area and said that combining the comprehensive agriculture production zone with the industrial park is in line with the development requirements of a green economy.
Liu Fucheng, director of the Guizhou Agriculture Council, elaborated on the construction of Guizhou's modern agriculture. A total of 113 modern agriculture demonstration parks are under construction in the province, and there are currently 482 investment promotion projects, with total capital of 42.6 billion yuan ($6.99 billion) and actual invested capital of 7.61 billion yuan.
Many entrepreneurs believe Guizhou is well-qualified to attract investment from home and abroad."We expect to bring in bio-technology from Western countries to Guizhou in the near future, which will help make Guizhou famous for its ‘longevity' rather than its liquor, cigarettes and tea," according to an entrepreneur from Taiwan.
