The city of Urumqi, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, hosted a symposium, on Nov 19, with officials from the industry and commerce departments of five provinces and regions in China’s Northwest discussing to work together to build a better investment and consumer environment along the Silk Road Economic Belt.

Representatives of China’s State Industry and Commerce Administration, and Shaanxi, Gansu and Qinghai provinces, and the Xinjiang and Ningxia Hui regions all said they agree that they need to increase cooperation to build a better trade, investment, and consumer environment with better services and a better legal system to make their agricultural industries more competitive, with their own brands and to create more jobs and better market supervision to prevent risks.

The participants also agreed on the need to search for any problems that may get in the way of economic belt work through field surveys and discussions and to develop greater cooperation and make sure it works by September of next year.
