A cycle race kicked off in Pingtan county on June 17, with 200 riders from across the Taiwan Straits competing.

The competition was jointly organized by Pingtan and some private groups in a bid to promote a low-carbon lifestyle and construction of a common homeland for people across the Straits.
Lin Bingquan from Quanzhou city won the mountain bike group with a time of 1’50.41”, and Fuzhou’s Lin Chengdan was crowned in the road bike group with 2’37.49”.
Cheng Yongyuan, who is from Taiwan and a runner-up in the mountain bike group, said he enjoyed the scenery along Huandao Road, and it boosted his performance.
