Xiamen’s CPI in April increased by 1.3% compared with the same period of the previous year, according to data published by the Xiamen Investigation Team of the National Statistics Bureau.
In April, the average year-on-year CPI growth rate in China was 1.5 percent. Xiamen’s growth rate was 1.3% in the same month, 1.7 percent lower than the annual control objective of 3%, ranking 29th best among 36 major Chinese cities.
Food prices increased by 2.0%, clothing prices increased by 7.6%, household equipment & maintenance service prices increased by 3.3%, health care & personal item prices increased by 2.5%, entertainment & education stationery commodity as well as related service prices increased by 0.4%, tobacco and liquor prices decreased by 0.3%, transportation & communication prices decreased by 2.5%, and residence prices decreased by 0.6% in April in Xiamen.
Food prices in Xiamen increased rapidly in April. For instance, the prices for cabbages and tomatoes increased to RMB1.93/500g and RMB2.5/500g, up 35% and 15%, respectively, in the month of April.
