An emerald and jade raw materials trade fair was held in Yingjiang County on May 12, the first time it has been held since the latest earthquake. More than 700 pieces of raw material as heavy as over 500 tons will bid on this event.
The county’s jewelry and jade markets is in recession due to heavy damages of the locals’ trade markets, jewelry companies and jade stores after the earthquake occurred in March.
Authorities said they hosted this trade fair with an aim to recover the local jewelry industry as well as attracting more investors from both home and abroad.
Most emerald and jade raw materials for the trade fair won the auction in the open offer trade fair in Naypyidaw, capital city of Myanmar.
