Luxi city, located in the west of Yunnan province, is renamed Mangshi, according to a press conference held today in Kunming.
The use of the name of Luxi has caused confusion and become an obstacle to Mangshi's economic, cultural and social development. The name of Mangshi, once used in the history, shall gain the city great recognition.
Mangshi, where Dehong's prefectural government resides, is the center of Dehong's government, economy, culture, transportation and communication. It is also an important gateway that links China to Southeast Asia, South Asia, West Asia.
