Fiesta Tex-Mex, newly opened among Beijing's under-the-sidewalk shops along Xindong Lu, is a triumph of low expectations. That sounds like damning with faint praise, but Tex-Mex is best when it's unpretentious, especially alongside a Corona or a big margarita. Fiesta has a family-friendly sports bar kind of vibe, and the shrimp fajitas - served smoking hot on a sizzling iron platter - are big and tender, with two nice flour tortillas. The joint may not feel quite like Austin or Laredo, but it's just the ticket for a casual afternoon meal.

11:30 am-midnight. Bldg 3, 12 Xindong Lu (opposite the Bentley dealership), Chaoyang district, Beijing. 010-5323-5399.
