Chongqing city, briefly named as Yu, is situated in the conjunction area between the central region and the west region of the country. It is the one of the four municipalities directly under the central government. It is an important central city in China, a famous city of national history and culture, an economic center in the upper reaches of Yangtze River, an important modern manufacturing base, a comprehensive transportation hub in the southwest of China and a super-large city with urban-rural development. In 2008, Chongqing’s GDP totaled RMB 509.666 billion, ranking 24th in China. The population of permanent residents in Chongqing is 28.39 million, with a per capita GDP of RMB 16,014.
重慶市，簡稱渝，地處我國中部和西部地區(qū)的結(jié)合部，是中國四大中央直轄市之一，中國重要的中心城市，中國國家歷史文化名城，中國長江上游地區(qū)的經(jīng)濟(jì)中心，中國國家重要的現(xiàn)代制造業(yè)基地，中國西南地區(qū)綜合交通樞紐、城鄉(xiāng)統(tǒng)籌的特大型城市。2008年全市實(shí)現(xiàn)地區(qū)生產(chǎn)總值 5,096.66億元，位居全國第24位。常住人口為2,839萬人，人均GDP為16,014元。
Chongqing is an important financial center in west China and also the most important transportation hub in the southwest region. Chongqing has witnessed rapid development of commerce and trade in recent years, forming many specialized markets that cover the southwest region. Chongqing is the only super-large city in the southwest region of China converging the resources of water, land and air transportation. In the meantime, the modernization level of logistics is raised steadily and the building of the city into a cuisine capital in full swing, forming an initial environment for logistic enterprises within and outside Chongqing to endeavor jointly for its prosperity.
重慶是中國西部重要的金融中心，也是西南地區(qū)最重要的交通樞紐，近年來商貿(mào)發(fā)展迅速，建成了眾多輻射西南的專業(yè)市場。重慶是中國西部地區(qū)唯一匯集水、陸、空交通資源的特大型城市。同時(shí)，流通現(xiàn)代化水平穩(wěn)步提高，美食之都打造有聲有色，初步形成市內(nèi)外流通企業(yè)共同繁榮重慶市場的局面。
