        Festive discovery

Caramba Mexican Cantina treats diners to a special Mexican-inspired Christmas set dinner.

Each diner also gets a grilled half lobster with lemon butter or Mornay sauce.

At First Korean Restaurant, chef Choi Sung-ho, is serving up a couple of festive set menus for two and four.

At this Korean barbecue, diners can cook their own meats on the round smokeless grill in the center of each table.

Included in each set is a selection of Korean appetizers including kimchi, potatoes simmered in a sweet broth, blanched bean sprout, and sauteed vegetables.

The two-person set for HK$550 also comes with Korean soup, rice, fresh fruit platter, and a festive gift. The four person set for HK$1,100 has the seafood pancake, ginseng and silky chicken soup, rice, fresh fruit platter, and a festive gift.

The dishes here are hearty and authentic with the steaming ginseng and silky chicken soup being particularly popular on cool winter evenings.

At Caramba Mexican Cantina, treat yourself to a special Mexican-inspired Christmas set dinner from Dec 21-26 for HK$298 per person.

Start with the refreshing crispy prosciutto, grapefruit and orange salad, followed by a belly-warming bowl of roasted sweet potato soup.

For your main, choose from a roasted smoked turkey breast served with chipotle cranberry sauce, chili con carne with Mexican rice, or grilled wild sockeye salmon fillet with tangy fresh pineapple and lime salsa. Finish with their rich dark chocolate mousse cake with wild berries.

Also, if you spend HK$100 or more at any of these restaurants, you can get a free ferry ride to Central on the same day. So, for a bit of a change, consider taking a short boat ride to the big island for some good eats and a pretty relaxed atmosphere.
