Kevin Federline
Federline was widely lampooned after taking the microphone at an awards event in August, but is not bothered by accusations that he is merely riding on the coat-tails of his pop-star wife.
"I don't worry about it too much," Federline said in an interview with entertainment programme "Extra" to be screened later Thursday.
Federline said Spears had stood squarely behind him after he made the decision to get into music.
"My wife is there for me all the time and both of us are just growing together and it's working. It's good," said former back-up dancer Federline, whose debut rap album is due to be released on October 31.
Hip-hop critics described Federline's first foray into music as "a joke", branding him a "Britney Boy."
