Survey on 2008 Games: High expectations, meager knowledge By Fang Xuan (chinadaily.com.cn) Updated: 2005-07-13 14:55
While 80 per cent of Beijingers believe the 2008 Olympic Games would be
world's best one ever, only 13.5 per cent know its slogan - "One Wold One Dream".
These were revealed by a survey released Tuesday, the findings of which
featured an explosive enthusiasm as well as Beijingers' lack of knowledge about the Olympic
Games to be held in Beijing in 2008.
Beijing Municipality has proposed to hold world's best ever Games. Its citizens
are well for it. Only 5 per cent of people polled show any worries at the
Games, while 70 per cent said they are "very confident" about the future.
When asked about the impression Beijing should leave to the
world, up to 95 per cent of the polled said they hope the city's passion and
politeness could be well displayed.
What come next are the city's history and culture, scientific development and
ecnomic power.
Another figure which highlights the Beijingers devotion to the Games is that
95 per cent of Beijingers are willing to be volunteers when the Games come.
