China wins opener in volleyball The host China eased past the Netherlands 25-20, 25-13 and 25-22 in Group A for its opening win at the Shenzhou Cup International Women's Volleyball Tournament in southeast China's Ningbo. The Dutch women fought bravely against the Olympic and World Cup double titlist in the first set and managed to stay within 21-20. However, the more experienced Chinese ran off four points in a row to close the set at 25-20. The Chinese women looked more comfortable in the second set as they prevailed for a 25-13 victory. And in the final set, China rotated its players, but still met no real challenge from the opponents. China recruited several young players after winning the gold medal at the Athens Olympic Games and Ma Yunwen, Xue Ming, Wang Ting and Zhao Yun made their international debut in the match. However, Zhao Ruirui is still in the injury list. Seven teams are competing in two groups of the preliminaries with top two teams from each group to qualify for the semi-finals.
