Iverson, Camby earn NBA player of week honors
Allen Iverson, who improved on his league-leading scoring average as he led Philadelphia to three wins in four games, was named the National Basketball Association's Eastern Conference player of the week.
The emotional leader of the Sixers appears to be benefitting from the acquisition of forward Chris Webber, averaging 37.3 points and 7.0 assists per contest. The lightning-quick guard also added 14 steals during the week.
Marcus Camby, who has helped put the Denver Nuggets in playoff contention, earned Western Conference honors.
He averaged 14.0 points, 15.7 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 4.33 blocks as Denver won all three of their games and continued their strong play under new coach George Karl.
Camby had double-doubles in all three games, including a 17-point, 22-rebound effort against the Indiana Pacers on Thursday.
